"Search and Rescue"

"And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:9-10).

Christ came into this lost world to seek and to save sinners. Christís design was to save, when there was no salvation in any other name. He seeks those that seek him not, and do not ask for him. Where ever a believer goes he or she must present the message of salvation with expectancy. Thus the believer is on a mission of Search and Rescue for the Kingdom of God.

The key to all of our opportunities in winning souls for Christ is expectancy. A believer must be alert and aware of these opportunities at all times. The believer must be involved when it comes to the eternal destination of souls (I Corinthians 9:16; Jeremiah 20:9; Ephesians 3:9). Soul-winning is to be expected of a believer, you have been given power through the Holy Ghost, and are witnesses (Acts 1:8). Take advantage of all the opportunities that arise, the believer may not have another chance to witness to that soul ever again.

Whenever a believer is given a chance do not force or press the opportunities. Remember that God opens the doors, and will either send you or will send someone your way, (see Acts 10 Peter & Cornelius). Expecting that God has sent the believer on a Search and Rescue mission we should be prepared to be led by the Holy Ghost so that when these opportunities do arise we will be yielded to the Spirit. (Romans 1:15-16; I Corinthians 16:9)

"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20). The Believer must remember that he/she is delegated to present and represent Christ. The Spirit of God is leading the believer to someone who will respond to the message. We must meet all appointments the Holy Ghost has scheduled for us, we must not be late. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Skill is indispensable to a believer when first making contact with an unsaved individual. Skill is very necessary in the approach of soul-winning and should be sharpened as with any tool. Many believers hinder their fruit of soul-winning because of their way of approaching the unsaved.

1.†††††† Smoothness- Many believers delay the fruit of soul-winning because of their lack of smoothness and skillfulness of presenting the message of salvation. Instead of listening to the unsaved and finding out how they may minister to them, they close the opportunity of the Search and Rescue mission by expressing their gift of gab.

2.†††††† Debate- When the believer is caught up in debating then it takes the message from the spiritual to the natural making it impossible for the unsaved to make a commitment to Christ. We are called to be witnesses, not debaters. Debate will always lead to remarks we will regret later on. Debate also leads to opposition.

3.†††††† Opposition- This may close the door to further opportunities. Opposition grows out of censorship and faultfinding of churches, organizations, denominations, pastors, and individuals. The believer should always avoid opposition with the unsaved.

The believer must be open and make the unsaved feel comfortable with the Search and Rescue message. The close encounter is dependent on the way the believer is first perceived by the unsaved (I Corinthians 9:19-23). The Believer must be persistent, because you will have a close encounter with someone who will be on the defensive. The believer should not be too anxious and not easily discouraged. Witness as much as you can without being offensive.

The believer must be instant in season and out of season, and take advantage of every door being opened for the Search and Rescue mission. Paul said, "So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:15-16).

1.†††††† Some of the unsaved will ask (I Peter 3:15)

2.†††††† Otherís will be prepared (Acts 8:30)

3.†††††† Illnesses will cause them to seek Christ (Mark 5:28)

4.†††††† Situations will open the door of opportunity (Mark 5:33)

5.†††††† Death (John 11:45)

6.†††††† A casual conversation will open the door for a Search and Rescue mission.

"And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:9-10).
