EVANGELISM
“And Jesus said
unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And
straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him” (Mark 1:17-18).
Here is the first requirement made to the disciples of Jesus
Christ after the call to follow Him that they should become fishers of men.
This new beginning of the rest of their lives with the Lord was to demand a
change in priorities.
Catching men is a natural result of a follower of Jesus Christ.
Those who follow Jesus should automatically desire others to follow Him also. “One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He
first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the
Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ” (John 1:40-41).
Soul winning and bringing the Gospel message of salvation is also
the last requirement of Jesus Christ to all of His church, the Body of Christ. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all
the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).
WHO
IS RESPONSIBLE?
Every
Christian is called to present and represent Jesus Christ to the world.
By the word of reconciliation. II Corinthians 5:19-20
Through the
Believers word. John 17:18-20
THE
SOLUTION!
It is the only solution to the sin and unhappiness of mankind and the only way of restoration and favour of God to sinners that repent and
put their trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.
(Romans 6:23 & John 3:36)
MEN CATCHER’S
CONT…..
HOW
IS THIS ACHIEVED?
Catching men is a learned and acquired experience. Winning souls
is already in your portfolio and is to be sharpened as with any tool or talent.
In Mark 1:17 the word become
means to fashion, form, produce or construct as of having acquired. The word make
in the same verse of scripture means to be ready, fit or to be preparing
something over a period of time.
THE
POSSIBILITIES
It is possible to win others to Jesus Christ anywhere people are.
If one would just open their mouth and let the Lord use them as a vessel for His
Glory the possibilities are incredible (John 4:6 & Mark 16:15-16).
We as Believers need to remember that God is a God of possibilities (Matthew 19:23-26).
FULL
of the HOLY GHOST and FAITH
Catching
men is done with the operation of the Holy Ghost and Faith in a Believers life.
To be an effective soul winner one must be full of the Holy Ghost and Faith (Acts 6:1-8 & Acts 11:20-26).
GOD’S
WILL
God
will is that everyone be saved (Luke
9:56; Luke 19:10; John 12:46; II Peter 3:9). It is not God’s will that any should perish but that
all should be brought back to communion and fellowship with God through the
atonement of Jesus Christ.
No
one method of catching men is ideal for everyone. Yet too many Believers are
looking for the perfect method. The method that is best is one that comes
naturally from the desire of any Believer to present Jesus Christ in such a way
that others will believe and follow Christ.
Catching
men is always more effective if equally committed Believers will covenant
together and begin to tell others about the risen Savior.
In Matthew 15:29-31 Jesus went up into a
mountain, and sat down there, the scripture states that great multitudes came
unto Him with people that were afflicted with various ailments, and that Jesus
healed them. The individuals who brought these people that had the ailments
were amazed or marveled at how Christ changed their lives. If it were not for
the great multitudes of men catchers these people would not have received their
blessings of hope.
